The deposits in this bill are set to come into effect January 1, 2010, but distributors must register with the DEP before Sept 2009 and maintain records on manufacture and sales. All received deposits go monthly into the Beverage Container Fund.
Forbids municipalities from levying additional deposits on beverage containers
Retailers are exempt from accepting returns if they contract with a nearby redemption center or meet other qualifications, including being under 5000 sq. feet or suffering financial hardship.
